Squiggle Art

We have been learning Squiggle Art. It was a way to practise having a growth mindset. We drew scribbles then had to turn them into pictures. We worked on using our imaginations, and not worrying if we made mistakes or if our work did not look perfect. Here are our thoughts:
  • It was very challenging.
  • It was fun.
  • I felt great!
  • It was a little bit hard but I didn't give up.
  • I thought of it as growth mindset.
  • I thought it was pretty good,
  • It was very good and challenging.
  • It makes you get better at art.
  • It helps your brain.
  • It was funny!
  • I did a really weird scribble and turned it into an old bird.
Whaea Tiff was proud of us because we gave it a shot.

Fixed versus Growth Mindset

We have been learning what it means to have a growth mindset.

  • We started off by thinking about a fixed mindset comment we often tell ourselves.
  • Then we thought about a growth mindset comment we could say to ourselves instead.

These posters show our learning!

This term we are learning about having a GROWTH MINDSET

Today we learned how having a growth mindset can help us accomplish great achievements.
We tried to make the paper structure on the LEFT, with just ONE sheet of paper and scissors.
The focus was on keeping trying, and learning from our mistakes. It was very hard.

We tried to not be an Al not a Toad, and to think "how could I do this a different way?"

Have a go and you will see what a challenge it is!

Rūaumoko Rages

On Friday, we activated our volcanoes that were made in the Venus reading group when they were reading the book Rūaumoko rages. It was so exciting when the lava came up over the rim of the volcanoes.
